What are Acid Attacks?

Acid attacks are violent forms of corrosive cruelty that has become increasingly frequent and neglected by society, corporations/educational institutions, and even legal systems globally. These regions include but are not limited to India, Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Italy, and Canada. As this is an infringement of women's/girls' rights and human rights in general, it is vital to be educated on the root causes, effects, laws, and treatment of Acid Attacks in addition to voice our stances on the issue.

The Gold Award Project, Stop The Splash seeks to achieve these goals by educating individuals in India, specifically the state of Tamil Nadu through this website which consists of information in regards to acid attacks, a training curriculum for corporations and the public, as well as interviews with survivors and entities striving to address this issue. This project will educate and empower individuals who are vulnerable to experiencing and observing this form of assault and ensure their safety while preparing them to act in case of an attack on themselves and others. The website will also consist of laws in place that may strengthen the case of victims in legal proceedings as well as support resources for victims. Project Stop The Splash additionally involves advocating for equal opportunity and equitable treatment in the workforce and educational institutions as well as advocating for laws that limit the easy accessibility of acid (particularly Sulfuric and Nitric) for purposes aside from scientific research and other specified  purposes.
